What we do
The CLP is the focal point in our area for the Labour Party.
We MEET AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER – from day to day, we have our members’ Facebook group, where members can discuss topics and bring each other information. Once a month we have a MEMBERS’ MEETING, where we debate and vote on motions brought by members, plan campaigning, and choose representatives to regional and national bodies and events. And regularly through the year we have SOCIAL EVENTS, including our famous BURNS SUPPER – these help us get to know and support each other, and raise valuable funds for our campaigning work.
Members’ Meetings monthly Thursday evenings 7.30 – 9.30 pm, Mayfield Salisbury Church Hall, 18 West Mayfield
Social Activities – regularly, all members and guests made welcome.
We CAMPAIGN – directly on issues of social and economic justice, and to ensure that the Labour voice is heard in Council and Parliaments by supporting Labour’s candidates for election. Campaigning can be leafleting, calling on households, telephone banking, or representing our positions in local and national media. Often our campaign stalls are a chance for our MP, MSP and Councillors to meet with constituents and hear their concerns first-hand.
Campaign Stalls, door-knocking, leafleting, frequent Saturday mornings through year, various points throughout the constituency.
